About Us

As a group of BASI trainers, ISTD's and ISIA's, we've been offering BASI exams and training and assessing instructors for 20 years under our sister company snowboardcoach.co.uk

7 years ago, we started Snowsports Coach as budding ski instructors were fed up paying the high prices to train and qualify. Each year we've hit 100% pass rates for those on our season program!

We now offer 3 different, cost effective exam packages in a great resort where going out doesn’t cost a fortune...and just like at Snowboard Coach, the guys that train you are good friends, great teachers and bloody good skiers.

Another advantage of doing a course with us is we host many other BASI courses to help progress your Snowsports career from adaptive, mountain Safety and coaching through to snowboarding for your second discipline. All on one lift pass and all in one place, the cheapest way you will ever do a BASI exam – you are already here.

All courses take place in the great low tax resort of Arinsal in Andorra, where we get a meal with a beer up the mountain for less than €10, coffees for €1,20 and a steak the size of your arm for under €25.

It’s why our courses are so popular. Becoming a Ski instructor shouldn't cost a fortune....our course's don’t!

Becoming a Ski instructor shouldn't cost a fortune.....our course's don’t!

  • Scott Maughan

Scott originally started out his life in snowsports way back in the 90’s on the dry slopes of Sheffield. He was lucky enough to get started through his school and was also able to make a yearly trip out to the alps to cement what ended up being a life in snow.

As the years have progressed, so too has Scott’s experience within the industry, teaching and coaching various disciplines at all levels. From first time skiers right through to GB development squad members and a current member of the Chilean Paralympic alpine team.

Scott holds ISIA alpine and ISIA adaptive qualifications along with a snowboard Level 1 and the highest European mountain safety (EMS) qualification. He is also a BASI adaptive trainer delivering all levels of adaptive courses.

Scott has spent over 12 seasons working in Arinsal. He has also spent seasons working in El Colorado and Portillo in Chile and also in New Zealand working at The Remarkables and Australia working in Perisher.

This depth and scale of client base has enabled Scott to develop a solid understanding of progression across the alpine and adaptive framework - An experience that is valuable to other potential instructors to aid them in developing as an instructor with BASI.
